Overview
The Opportunity: Join Ngaanyatjarra Health Service as a Nurse Team Leader to lead the Warakurna Health Clinic on a FIFO basis while supporting the delivery of high-quality, culturally safe care to Yarnangu communities in Warakurna and surrounding outlying areas.
This role offers the opportunity to provide first-line leadership, mentorship, and clinical supervision for nursing and support staff, ensuring the delivery of safe, patient-centred, and family-focused primary health care. You will coordinate service delivery, oversee rosters, and support access to planned GP and Specialist visits, helping to strengthen healthcare outcomes in very remote communities.
In addition to leadership, you will drive quality improvement, clinical governance, and compliance, while coordinating resources, telehealth appointments, patient travel, and other operational needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on community health and workforce capability while working in a dynamic, FIFO remote health setting.
About You / Qualifications
As the Nurse Team Leader, you bring clinical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to culturally safe care, guiding your team to deliver high-quality primary health care across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
* Registered Nurse with 5+ years of clinical experience, with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Experience that demonstrates your ability to model and lead exceptional nurse-led clinical practice and implement evidence-based primary health care strategies.
* Comprehensive knowledge of general and advanced nursing skills across primary health care and aged/disability care settings.
* Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing nursing and support staff, fostering team capability and professional growth.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills, with the capacity to make informed decisions in complex or resource-limited settings.
* Experience working within Aboriginal health and the ability to deliver culturally safe and responsive care.
* Able to meet operational requirements: WA driver's licence, required screenings, and capacity for extensive remote travel (including 4WD, light aircraft, and occasional interstate).
* Postgraduate qualifications in rural/remote health, leadership, or a related clinical discipline.
* Experience contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement programs.
* Experience in strategic planning and coordination of integrated health services, including facilitation of GP and specialist outreach collaboration.
