The Mental Health Ambulance and Police Project (MHAPP) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will provide a highly mobile, recovery orientated clinical assessment, consultancy and support to NSW Ambulance and Police managing mental health related cases in the community. They will also provide clinical leadership in virtual assessment of consumers in the community who are geographically isolated.
The MHAPP CNC works with NSW Ambulance and Police to provide mental health triage, primary consumer assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level. The position holder will be required to possess extensive knowledge of mental health disorders and demonstrated clinical practices to provide support, treatment, coordination and education to emergency services who work with consumers with complex mental and physical health needs. The position may be based in one of a number of locations for their shifts, including the Wollongong, Shellharbour and Nowra regions.
The CNC will establish and maintain communication with all relevant Medical Practitioners, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, will assist in the organisation and participate in the multidisciplinary team meetings, and maintain a close liaison with Community Health Services.

* Current AHPRA Registration
* Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursing qualifications relevant to Community Mental Health in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health.
