Overview Department for Environment and Water Job reference: 701418 Location: 5076 - ATHELSTONEJob status: Short Term Contract Eligibility: Open to Everyone The Project Officer role will support the delivery of various land management projects across several open space reserves within the Adelaide Metropolitan area.
The duties of the role include: Responsibilities Developing and maintaining effective relationships with relevant stakeholders and contractors in order to deliver land management and revegetation/habitat restoration projects.
Contributing to the implementation of revegetation and land management projects within the Adelaide Metropolitan area and Hills region.
Undertaking operational on-groundwork tasks in implementing revegetation and or land management projects.
Providing technical support and advice to the Senior Project Manager and other Managers including the Executive team, community groups and other organisations involved in revegetation and land management.
Collection, management, analysis and interpretation of monitoring data to assist with the adaptive management of OpenSpace System Reserves and other public land.
Providing assistance in the development of technical reports and data summaries for a wide range of stakeholders including community groups.

Contract Contract for up to 12 months Essential Qualifications A degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science or Biological Sciences or equivalent qualification is essential.
Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of the principles of project management, community participation and public relations, and Natural Resource Management (NRM) coordination and integration.
Demonstrated experience in undertaking field data collection and monitoring, analysis and evaluation techniques for ecological data to draw sound conclusions which inform report recommendations and adaptive management.
Shows an understanding of revegetation projects, habitat restoration and management techniques.
Demonstrated ability to approach problems by breaking it down into its component parts and being able to consider each part in detail.
Seeks input from others with helpful knowledge and experience as well as diverse perspectives in exploring and testing possible solutions to the problem.
Knowledge of local plant species and ecological communities.
Experience in using Microsoft Office applications such as MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint for the development and delivery of government briefings, reports, presentations and data analysis.
Special Conditions Will be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia.
Some out of hours work may be required and this may include working on weekends.
May be required to work from any location within the region or any region or management unit within the state.
Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.
Will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with Departmental Policy.
A current class "C" driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
Intra and inter-state travel may be required, including extended periods of time away from home and travel in light aircraft.
A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
DEW will cover the cost of renewal.
