Introduction:

About the Role

As a Home and Garden Maintenance Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting older people to live safely and independently in their own homes. You will provide high-quality home and garden maintenance services that improve safety, accessibility, and wellbeing by identifying, minimising, and removing environmental health and safety risks.

Working as part of a values-driven team, you will deliver practical maintenance support aligned with participants' wellness and reablement goals. This is a part-time (20 hours per week), ongoing position based at Trevor Pearcy House, Bruce ACT, with the majority of work conducted in participants' homes and community locations.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering home and yard maintenance and minor repairs to mitigate or remove identified risks to participant health and safety.

Completing basic home maintenance tasks such as changing smoke detector batteries and tightening door hinges.

Providing light garden maintenance including essential pruning, trimming, weeding, and lawn mowing where safety or access is impacted.

Supporting participants to maintain a safe home environment that promotes independence, wellness, and reablement goals.

Using garden and maintenance tools and equipment safely and in line with best practice guidelines.

Working within CHSP guidelines and organisational policies and procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Experience and strong skills in home and garden maintenance, with an understanding of safe work practices and equipment use.

An understanding of the scope of direct care deliverable under the CHSP guidelines.

A current Driver's Licence and access to a registered, comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for transporting tools and equipment.

A satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (held at all times while employed).

Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance prior to commencement and every three years thereafter.

Willingness to participate in employment screening such as medical, functional, or psychological assessments as required.

Desirable: Working towards a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or an equivalent qualification.
