Technical Sales Engineer – Excitation Systems

We're partnering with a leading global organisation to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer – Excitation Systems for their ANZ operations.

This is not a traditional sales role – it's a technical, solutions‑driven position suited to someone with an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background who enjoys translating complex systems into real‑world value for customers. With up to 50% travel across Australia and New Zealand, this position offers impact, autonomy, and the opportunity to become a trusted specialist in a niche, high‑demand field.

* Salary: Up to $115,000 base + $20,000 vehicle allowance + performance‑based bonus.

Key Responsibilities

* Sales Strategy Execution: Drive the sales plan for excitation systems, products, and service offerings across ANZ.
* Market Development: Identify new opportunities, support market penetration initiatives, and ensure annual sales targets are met.
* Technical Consultation: Interpret customer needs, analyse competitor offerings, and develop technically suitable, cost‑effective solutions.
* Solution Selling: Promote service agreements, upgrades, and system installations to new and existing customers.
* Customer Engagement: Travel to customer sites (40–50%) across Australia and New Zealand to build relationships and support ongoing projects.
* Offer Preparation: Support the preparation and delivery of strategic proposals, quotations, and commercial documentation.
* Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, service delivery, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless execution of the sales plan.


What We're Looking For

* Background: Engineering experience (Electrical or Mechanical strongly preferred).
* Experience: Technical sales, service sales, or customer‑facing engineering experience within energy, power generation, utilities, heavy industrial, or related technical environments.
* Aptitude: Strong technical learning ability — you don't need to be an excitation expert, but you must love diving into complex systems.
* Communication: Confident in engaging customers, presenting solutions, and negotiating outcomes.
* Travel: Comfortable with around 40–50% travel across ANZ.
* Compliance: Full working rights in Australia and the ability to pass a clear national police check are mandatory.
* Bonus Skills: Experience with excitation systems or rotating machinery is advantageous but not essential.


What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)

1. Rapidly build technical understanding of excitation systems, service offerings, and upgrade packages.
2. Begin contributing independently to customer meetings, proposals, and site visits.
* Drive new opportunities while deepening relationships with existing customers.
* Meet key KPIs linked to service sales, upgrades, and market development.
* Become a trusted technical advisor to customers across the energy and utilities sector.
* Hybrid: Home + office + customer travel (≈50%).
* Reports to: Asia Sales Manager.
* Key Stakeholders: Engineering, service delivery, marketing, and customers across the energy and power generation sector.
