Role Overview:
TheSenior Manager – Major Project Deliverywill lead the strategic planning, stakeholder and customer engagement, design, and delivery of signature legacy precinct projects delivered by BSA.
This role is pivotal in shaping nature-based tourism destinations and city-shaping initiatives that reflect Brisbane's sustainability goals, community values, and the city's long-term vision, includingDestination 2045and the2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With a strong focus on integratingsustainability, eco-tourism opportunities, landscape architecture, and placemaking, the Senior Manager will develop and apply comprehensive visioning tools to inform and inspire engagement across community, stakeholder, and market audiences.
The role is responsible for ensuring thedelivery of outcomes that are strategically alignedwith BSA's objectives, including environmental stewardship, cultural inclusion, economic viability, and design excellence.
As part of the senior management team, the role requires strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration, contributing to the overall direction and success of BSA, while operating with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
The successful candidate will have:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in large scale Program or Project Management leadership role, with relevant professional qualifications and a track record of delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Strong leadership and team management skills that foster acollaborative, innovative, and values-driven culture.
Proven experience indeveloping and delivering projects in partnership with government, private sector, and community stakeholders, including throughpublic-private partnerships.
Demonstrated ability toresearch and develop innovative solutionsto environmental and sustainability challenges with an understanding ofmarket trends, investment drivers, and commercial considerationsrelevant to sustainable development, eco-tourism, and place-based planning.
Strong capability instakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and vision development, particularly in the context of environmentally and culturally sensitive projects.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills tobuild and maintain strategic partnershipsacross government, industry, community, and tourism sectors.
Proven capability tointegrate tourism, cultural, and environmental considerationsinto project planning and delivery, ensuring outcomes that are financially viable, socially inclusive, and ecologically responsible.
A strong track record oftranslating visionary concepts into delivered projects, including nature-based tourism destinations, public realm enhancements, and legacy infrastructure.
Experience indeveloping and applying comprehensive visioning toolsthat synthesise cultural, environmental, eco-tourism, and design elements to inform and inspire community, stakeholder, and market engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee, lead and coordinatethe end-to-end delivery of a precinct-level vision, ensuring alignment with BSA's sustainability objectives, Brisbane City Council's strategic direction, emerging market trends, and community expectations.
Identify and evaluate commercial and market-led opportunitiesthat enhance the precinct's appeal as a nature-based tourism destination, including eco-tourism ventures, visitor experiences, and sustainable business models.
Support the Chief Executive Officerin developing and managing strategic partnerships and relationships with government, industry, investors, and the broader community to foster innovation and investment in nature-based tourism.
Lead inclusive engagementwith Traditional Owners, community groups, government agencies, tourism operators, environmental experts, industry stakeholders, and the general public to ensure culturally respectful and environmentally responsible development.
Develop and manage a multi-phase program delivery roadmap, including feasibility studies, environmental and cultural heritage assessments, design, procurement, and construction, with a focus on sustainable tourism infrastructure.
Establish and manage all project governance documentation, including project management plans, budgets, risk management frameworks, project schedules, communication strategies, and stakeholder registers.
Develop, negotiate, implement and monitor contracts and agreementswith internal and external service providers to ensure delivery of high-quality, commercially viable, and environmentally sustainable project outcomes.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Tertiary qualificationsin a relevant discipline such as:
Project or Program Management
Urban or Regional Planning
Environmental Science or Sustainability
Architecture or Urban Design
Project Management Certification, such as:
PRINCE2
PMP (Project Management Professional)
