THE ROLE Located within the operational division, this innovative position will drive positive changes and enhance the life outcomes for children and young people across each of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing divisions. The Manager, Care Support and Engagement, plays a pivotal role in supporting carers across the Division. The Manager, Care Support and Engagement is responsible for divisional oversight, tracking and monitoring of all components of the kinship model, WWCC compliance and the implementation of the Care Support Helpdesk (funded by the Victorian Government 2022-23 State budget until 30 June 2024). The Manager, Care Support and Engagement will take the lead role in driving and embedding the model of kinship care, which was rolled out across Victoria in March 2018. The model promotes placement stability by providing ongoing and flexible support to kinship placements. The position works closely with Child Protection, Care services teams, Kinship Engagement Teams, Out of Home Care Service providers and reports up to the Manager Care Services Strategic and Operational Support. You will be capable in interpreting and analysing data as a tool to drive strategy, consistency, and performance This is a supervisory role, providing line management to the following teams: * * Care Support Help Desk * The Helpdesk Team provides a critical role across all four Areas in undertaking care support activities for children in all care types with a focus of children entering care, to improve the consistency and timeliness of information, supports and document sharing, particularly critical identity documents for children in care such as birth certificates and Medicare cards. * A dedicated phone line operates in each division as a contact point to assist carers to navigate care processes and assist in identifying placement vulnerabilities and escalate issues/concerns on behalf of carers to the most appropriate program/services. * * Divisional Kinship Engagement Worker/s * The Divisional Kinship Engagement Worker assists with reviewing all Kinship brokerage support applications administering the kinship placement support brokerage, support packages and facilitation of consultations about kinship brokerage * Supports the work of the Manager, Care Support and Engagement as they lead and drive the implementation of the ongoing operation of the model * Project Workers, Working with Children's Checks * The WWCC project officers provide Divisional oversight of WWCC compliance across all four areas of the Division * Provides guidance to a range of stakeholders such as Child Protection Teams and Kinship carers as needed regarding WWCC matters and in line with the legislation. You will work to raise the profile of the kinship model and will take the lead role in coordinating and activating all model processes, including Divisional reporting regarding First Supports when required. The work location in is flexible and may require travel within and outside the division. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE * * Take a leadership role in service development, design and implementation of new initiatives and policy. * Prepare, present, or contribute to comprehensive reports, briefs, submissions and correspondence on a range of complex matters. * Lead, manage and provide professional supervision, direction, training, and development.
