Victoria Police is seeking an exceptional senior communications leader to champion the organisation's media, communications and community engagement strategies. As the Director, Media & Community Engagement, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how Victoria Police connects with the community, supports its vision for a Safe Victoria, and strengthens public confidence in policing. About the Role Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Partnerships & Safe Communities, this executive position provides strategic leadership across media, communications and engagement functions. You will: * Lead the development and delivery of contemporary media, communications and engagement strategies. * Provide authoritative advice to the Chief Commissioner, Executive Leadership Board and Victoria Police Command. * Drive high‑performing teams delivering services to internal audiences and the broader community. * Build strong relationships across government, emergency services and external stakeholders. * Oversee complex media issues, strategic planning, and organisational communications initiatives. * Foster a safe, empowered and values‑driven work environment aligned with Victoria Police's commitment to wellbeing, integrity and professionalism. About You You are a senior communications executive with a record of success operating in complex, sensitive and high‑profile environments. You bring: * Exceptional leadership capabilities and a track record of innovative media and communications delivery. * Extensive high‑level experience in public relations, communications, and strategic media management. * Strong analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving skills. * Outstanding negotiation, consultation and stakeholder engagement abilities. * Deep understanding of public sector dynamics—emergency services experience highly regarded. * A commitment to ethical conduct and Victoria Police values. * A relevant degree in journalism, communications or public relations (highly regarded). Special Requirements and Employment Terms * The successful candidate must undergo and maintain a National Security Clearance at the level determined by the Chief Commissioner.
