Job Objective
Lab Technician Level 2 - Process & Operations is responsible for conducting routine laboratory analyses, assisting with process monitoring, and ensuring that quality control standards are maintained throughout the Ammonia & Urea Granulation Fertilisers Plant.
Job Responsibilities
Sample Collection & Preparation
Collect samples from various stages of the ammonia and urea production processes, including raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
Prepare samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring that correct handling and storage procedures are followed to avoid contamination.
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
Perform routine laboratory tests on samples, including physical, chemical, and other quality parameters as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Record and document test results accurately in laboratory logbooks and in laboratory data management systems or computerized systems.
Quality Control & Process Monitoring
Assist in the monitoring of key process parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, concentration, granule size) by performing related tests.
Report any deviations or anomalies observed during testing to the Lab In-Charge and assist with identifying potential corrective actions.
Equipment Maintenance & Calibration
Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working in the laboratory and plant environment.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, internal procedures, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO).
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of laboratory activities, including test results, calibration logs, and inventory control.
Provide timely and detailed reports of laboratory analyses to the Lab In-Charge and relevant departments.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
A diploma or associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience
8 – 12 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within a chemical manufacturing, fertilizer, or similar industrial setting.
Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment is preferred.
