The Role
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for carrying out analytical and other procedures at the on-site laboratory to agreed standards of safety, efficiency, and quality control.
This is a permanent full-time position based at our Kwinana Refinery on a sportsman roster.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish a health and safety culture through active participation
* Report all health, safety and environmental incidents
* Comply with health and safety, environmental and regulatory policies, ensuring a safe working environment and participating in laboratory SHE&C processes and initiatives
* Undertake work safely and efficiently, adhering to statutory requirements and company policies & procedures
* Participate in laboratory and quality audits as necessary
* Contribute to the Continuous Improvement culture of the laboratory
* Ensure procedures for every task are followed (including QA/QC protocols)
* Instrument Operation (including Calibration, Maintenance & Readiness activities) as required
* Water Quality Testing
* Sample preparation (including dewatering, filtration, splitting, pressing & grinding)
* Fusion, Digestion & Leaching of Samples
* Particle Sizing (including wet & dry laser diffraction & sieve sizing)
* Gravimetric analyses
* Spectrophotometric analyses (including ICP, AA, UV-Vis & Colour)
* Titration analyses (includes instrumental and manual)
* LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
* Report QC (Quality Control) non-conformances to Laboratory Supervisor
* Train team members as necessary
Role Requirements
* 3 – 5 years of experience in mining or chemical processing
* Demonstrated experience following QA/QC systems
* Experience with ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) or AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer), Auto–titrators, UV-Vis
* Knowledge of Laser Sizer and/or experience with Sieves
* Experience with sample preparation: Pulveriser, Press, and/or riffle splitter (desirable)
* Experience with fusion and digestion protocols for elemental analyses (desirable)
