What you'll be doing
The Community Mental Health Nurse plays a key role in providing person-centred care to individuals experiencing mental illness in the community. Should you join our team it will be during an exciting time, when the Adult Mental Health Service in the Mid North coast is moving away from team functions to care pathways as the service rolls out a new Model of Care.
Do you have a passion for group work? If so, you will have the opportunity to implement and co-facilitate groups in the community.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated and recovery-oriented care. Work in partnership with service users, carers, and families to ensure holistic, least re-strictive, culturally safe care is provided.
The role involves administering long-acting depot injections in the Depot Clinic and may include relief cover in the Clopine (Clozapine) Clinic. It may also include undertaking mental health triages, assessments, completing co-produced treatment plans and working towards recovery goals outlined in care pathways.
Practicing and promoting safe, efficient, and effective nursing care for people experiencing mental health problems that reflect current National practice standards for mental health, current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.
All nursing positions are expected to be able to work across all components of the mental health service including inpatient and community-based service.
About you
Do you have current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and demonstrated nursing skills, knowledge and ability relevant to area within the mental health service.
