Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 (Top-of-market for Manager level)Location: Sydney (City Fringe / Inner West)Flexibility: 3:2 Hybrid (Office:WFH)Focus: Tax & Wealth Reporting for UHNW Families & Individuals
Candidate Preference: The sweet spot for this role is an Assistant Manager or Manager with a strong Tax pedigree. That said, if you're an emerging specialist who is outgrowing your current firm early, don't let a job title stop you from starting a conversation.
The Opportunity
If you're currently a Tax Manager in a large firm, you know the drill: internal politics, the relentless pressure of WIP, and "activity for activity's sake".Recruitment Labs has been retained to find a technical heavy-hitter to join a highly specialised UHNW environment. This is not a volume practice or a "compliance factory". You will be working with a "who's who" of ultra-high-net-worth families, managing sophisticated structures where the work is complex and the service is premium.
Why This Beats a Traditional Firm
* Zero Billable Hours: Everything is on a retainer model. You can finally leave the "six-minute increment" world behind and focus entirely on outcomes and quality.
* Agile Decisions: You aren't joining a slow-moving partnership where ideas die in committee. Decisions happen fast, and good thinking is implemented immediately.
* Premium Mandate: Move away from "churn" and into meaningful advisory, complex structuring, wealth transfer planning, and long-term stewardship.
* A Clear Leadership Runway: This isn't a "wait your turn" environment. You will have a seat at the table with decision-makers and a direct path to senior leadership.
Role Profile
You'll be the technical engine for some of the most influential balance sheets in the country. Your mandate covers:
* Complex Advisory: Lead structuring and strategy across trusts, private groups, and investment vehicles.
* UHNW Stewardship: Own the "difficult conversations" and high-level expectations of sophisticated family groups.
* Technical Excellence: Provide practical, commercial advice on CGT, Division 7A, and integrity measures.
* Team Uplift: Review technical quality and coach junior team members to operate at a "premium" standard.
* Growth Execution: Spot opportunities within existing client groups to turn strategy into structured initiatives.
Successful Candidate Profile
This role is designed for a Tax Manager (or a high-performing Assistant Manager) currently in a Private Clients or Tax Advisory environment who is ready for a more commercial, operational leadership lane.
You will bring
* Technical Rigour: A solid foundation in trusts, private groups, CGT, and Div 7A.
* A "Systems" Mindset: You don't just fix a tax issue; you build a process to manage it permanently.
* Discretion & Confidence: The ability to operate within a high-trust, high-wealth environment where confidentiality is non-negotiable.
* Bias for Action: You prefer outcomes over theory and pragmatic advisory over academic fluff.
* Qualifications: CA/CPA and/or CTA preferred.
Please note: Only candidates currently based in Australia with full Australian working rights will be considered.
