About the role
VMCH Disability Services offers innovative ways to support people with a disability for building skills, experience and learning to support them on their pathway to independence.
As a Café Disability Support Worker (DSW), you will provide hands-on mentoring to young people participating in our trainee program to build their self-confidence, barista and customer service skills and employability qualities. This position will ultimately support NDIS participants develop their personal & professional skills that will improve their independence and chances of securing employment.
This is a casual position, however there may be the possibility for the role to become permanent part-time.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for either a qualified DSW or hospitality professional to grow into another industry while continuing to support individuals with a disability.
Skills, experience & requirements
You will be currently studying or hold a Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services and have demonstrated experience providing personal care to individuals with a Disability. Along with your disability expertise, you will have gained customer service experience within the hospitality industry. Furthermore, you will have;
1. Current First Aid certificate
2. Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
3. Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (or willing to obtain)
4. Experience in providing personal care to individuals with a disability
5. NDIS Worker Screening Check
6. Victorian Working with Children’s Check
7. Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
8. Valid vaccinations including 2022 flu vaccination and COVID-19 Vaccinations (including 3rd booster)
