Join a state-wide Youth Road Safety Project aimed at reducing serious injuries and fatalities among young Tasmanian drivers. The project partners with schools, communities, and government and road safety stakeholders to develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate education to Year 9–12 students across Tasmania. Working with the Senior Project Manager, you will shape and deliver the education component of this initiative, leading the development and implementation of innovative, curriculum-aligned road safety resources and co-creating practical outcomes for young people, teachers and support networks.

Key responsibilities

- Establish and maintain relationships with leaders and educators across Tasmania’s secondary schools, as well as with national stakeholders and experts in road safety education, to share advice, information and resources.
- Collaborate with teachers, government departments, students and community groups to ensure education materials are accessible, consistent and complementary.
- Identify and review global best practice in years 9–12 curriculum-based road safety education including formats such as teaching guides, student workbooks and digital resources, differentiation strategies, and assessment rubrics.
- Develop and coordinate a network of engaged schools to co-create, pilot, and refine new curriculum resources tailored for Tasmania.
- Collaborate with principals, teachers, and other educators to identify, plan, and implement opportunities for trialling, sharing, and expanding initiatives.
- Facilitate co-design of resources with Principals, teachers, students, parents and community groups to contextualise and improve for Tasmania, our places, and our students.
- Support schools and participate in teaching communities of practice to support knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and wider adoption of road safety resources across curriculum.
- Track and report on progress against milestones and agreed measures.

Successful candidates will have

- Hold a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or a Master of Teaching.
- Hold a current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
- Have 5 or more years teaching experience in senior secondary schools, with demonstrated experience with contemporary curriculum design and pedagogy, including developing and delivering professional learning to teachers.
- Proven ability to quickly build relationships, influence, and create buy-in through listening and working together to meet common goals.
- Facilitation and collaboration skills with a willingness to co-design. The ability to bring together varied cohorts such as teachers, students and parents to co-design and trial resources.
- Demonstrated leadership in working within school systems and across networks to influence change and improve learning outcomes for students.
- Strong project management skills, including skills to plan, track, measure and report on progress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a range of text types, including reports, briefings, and stakeholder forums.
