Clermont is located 112km north of Emerald and is part of the larger Central Highlands district which encompasses 17 unique communities including the towns Coppabella, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah and St Lawrence. Clermont has been driven by a wide variety of industry including coal mining, gold and copper mining as well as agriculture.
The town has a series of murals, monuments and sculptures depicting many Australian figures, which tie into the historical nature of the town. A visit to the Clermont Historical Centre will showcase the rich history of Clermont including artefacts from the 1916 Great Flood, old shearing shed and mines. You can also visit the impressive Peak Range National Park, which offers wonderful opportunities for bushwalking and photography. The park has spectacular geological features, historical interest and scenic views.
