Title: Systems Engineer – Rolling stock
Work location: Perth based
Roster: 5/2 roster (Monday to Friday)
In support of our client's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of their key initiatives will be in our Heavy Industry projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet and rail locomotives.
Based out of their Redcliffe and Hazelmere R&D facilities and reporting to the Heavy Industry Integration Principal Engineer, we are presently looking for an experienced System Engineer with Rollingstock experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute the systems engineering process, including requirements analysis, system architecture, design, integration, verification, and validation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and develop rolling stock systems
• Develop and manage requirements for rolling stock systems
• Contribute to the development and execution of system engineering management plans for rolling stock systems
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address technical challenges and project uncertainties
• Support the procurement process by evaluating supplier proposals and providing technical guidance throughout the vendor selection process
• Participate in design reviews, verification, and validation activities to ensure adherence to project requirements and specifications
• Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules, track progress, and identify resource requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years Systems Engineering experience working in the design and development of rollingstock or rail systems
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
• Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies, including requirements development & management, system modelling, V&V
• Proficient in the use of Requirements Management software (ie. Polarion, DOORS, Jama)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in project management practices and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA) is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and adapt to changing project priorities and requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work on tight schedules.
