Position Title: APS6 / EL1 Project Manager
Employment Type: Labour hire (approx 12 months with potential to extend)

Hourly Pay Rate:
* APS6: $63.40 – $71.29 per hour + 12% superannuation
* EL1: $78.95 – $88.31 per hour + 12% superannuation
Security Clearance/Requirements: Must hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 at time of application
Working Arrangements: Full-time, on-site
ABOUT THE ROLE
An Australian Government department is seeking an experienced Project Manager (APS6/EL1) to manage security infrastructure and technology-related projects and provide specialist advisory services.
The role will ensure that property and technology projects meet relevant security requirements, government security frameworks, and technical standards. Responsibilities include contract administration, compliance with building regulations, fee negotiation with specialist contractors, budget management, governance reporting, and end-to-end project delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved
* Manage project scope, risks, and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective integration of project activities
* Manage project design and documentation across all project phases, including initiation, design and documentation, delivery, handover, and defects liability period
* Manage project variations and changes, ensuring appropriate change control processes are followed
* Prepare and coordinate regular project progress reports and stakeholder communications
* Establish and maintain project administration systems, including document control and record management
* Prepare, manage, review, and update project documentation, including risk and communications plans
* Manage project costs, including estimating, budgeting, monitoring, and contingency management
* Ensure quality standards and assurance requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle
* Liaise with suppliers, consultants, and contractors as required
* Maintain project schedules and regularly report on progress, including providing verbal updates to governance bodies
* Manage project risks, including contingency planning, residual risk review, and escalation where required
* Monitor resource usage and overall progress, initiating corrective action when necessary
* Coordinate project handover, completion activities, and final documentation
* Identify and document lessons learned to support continuous improvement
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects within government or regulated environments
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance, and reporting requirements
* Experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder expectations
* Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and provide clear verbal briefings
* Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and external suppliers
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to broader team capability and learning
