Opportunity Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in Work Health and Safety (WHS) to drive positive outcomes for our organization. As a Work Health and Safety Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of our staff and maintaining a safe work environment.
* Provide expert guidance on WHS, injury management, and return-to-work strategies to all staff members
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop, implement, and continuously improve our WHS system
* Conduct and coordinate regular WHS audits, including StateCover audits, internal, and external audits as required
* Identify and facilitate initiatives to enhance staff safety and mitigate claims
* Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement policy, procedures, systems, and education programs
* Support incident investigation and hazard resolution through proactive local approaches
* Compile and provide WHS statistics and reports as needed
* Manage workplace health surveillance, including vaccinations and immunizations as necessary
* Administer rehabilitation programs for injured workers, adhering to relevant Workers Compensation and Injury Management legislation
* Support emergency preparedness and response efforts, such as fire drills and evacuation procedures
* Coordinate WHS education, induction, and training to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
* Assist in the development and continuous improvement of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs)
* Administer the WHS Committee and facilitate consultative arrangements for WHS matters
* Lead investigations into serious incidents, as directed by the Manager Integrated Risk, and assist with reviewing incident investigations
* Participate in outdoor worker toolbox talks to discuss incidents, hazards, and investigation outcomes
* Provide onsite risk assessments for high-risk work and other field support as required
* Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, accompanied by extensive experience in a senior WHS role
* SafeWork NSW Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
* Expert knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation and regulations
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of management and staff
* Experience conducting complex WHS investigations and audits
* Ability to deliver on-the-job WHS induction, education, and awareness training
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
* Demonstrated high-level written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes
