About the Opportunity Austal and the Commonwealth of Australia are currently negotiating a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) that will support the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise and the delivery of multiple new defence force shipbuilding projects, such as Landing Craft-Medium and Landing Craft-Heavy for the Australian Army. Once signed, the SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce, as we deliver both existing and new programs under a long-term partnership. It will also enable the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson shipyard and marks a major step forward in establishing enduring shipbuilding capability within the Henderson Defence Precinct and across Western Australia. To achieve this, we are building a highly skilled team, to engage with local industry and supply chains, and work on complex, large-scale projects that reflect Austal’s proven capabilities and trusted performance. The Software Developer, will provide support within the Austal ICT team to continue redefining and extending the current business application suites. What’s Involved Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and industry best practices Ensure all new code is readable, well-documented, and committed to version control Comply with static code analysis tools and participate in team code reviews Verify, test, and deploy development work with thorough unit testing and stakeholder acceptance Collaborate with developers to implement and demonstrate effective testing methodologies Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software to enhance performance and reliability Develop strategies for migrating code bases to cloud environments and reducing reliance on on-premise solutions Create technical documentation for reference and training, including architecture diagrams and operational processes You’ll Need Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in the field of IT or proven experience as a developer Experience with relational databases and data warehouses/data lakes Demonstrated experience in analysis, preparation and presentation of data Attention to detail Experience with C# and NET Why Austal Competitive compensation and benefits package.
