We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Scheduling Lead/Maintenance Planner, ideally with experience in field operations or maintenance planning.
The primary focus of the role is to develop, prioritise, organise, schedule and monitor work orders to support the delivery of preventive maintenance, calibration, inspection, installation/upgrades and repair of our weather observing equipment, in accordance with the Bureau's maintenance program and service level agreements.
Whilst working under the general guidance of the Operations Manager, the role will be significantly autonomous.
Who are we?
The Observing Operations Hubs are the Bureau of Meteorology's Technical Operations centres comprising of 8 Hubs, one in each capital city and Cairns. Staff based at the Observing Operations Hub travel far and wide and into remote areas, utilising 4WD's, planes, boats, and helicopters to maintain service delivery within the various instrumentation networks. This includes:
* Rain Radars
* Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
* Upper-Air monitoring systems (sounding balloons)
* Sea Level Monitoring Stations
* Wave and Wave height buoys
* Satellite ground reception and space weather instruments
* Flood warning / rainfall monitoring systems
* Co‐operative observers, volunteer rainfall stations
* Communications, telemetry and instrumentation systems
We are part of a national maintenance workforce and there is the chance to travel to other parts of Australia.
We offer specialised, in-house competency-based training on all our equipment and will ensure you have the necessary tools and skills to undertake this work.
