The Fitness Captain will provide leadership and direction to teams across both the Bass Coast Health Club and Group Fitness Programming.
This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, supporting members to achieve their health and wellbeing goals, and ensuring our fitness environments are welcoming, motivating and consistently presented to the highest standard.
They will oversee daily operations of the Health Club, lead and support fitness professionals and group fitness instructors, and ensure programs and services are delivered safely, consistently, and in line with member needs.
The Fitness Captain will also play an active role in community engagement through coordinating and delivering fitness-based community events that increase participation and strengthen local connections.
In addition, the Fitness Captain will support membership acquisition and retention, driving participation across fitness, personal training and group fitness, helping to create a motivating, positive and safe environment for all customers.

The Fitness Captain is a critical customer facing role and as such, will be required to work shifts that are in line with busy member attendance periods.
Key Responsibilities: Service delivery for all fitness programs Supervise and provide direction to all Health and Fitness staff.
Lead the delivery of health, fitness and wellness programs in accordance with annual plans.
Oversee day to day operations of Group Fitness and Health Clubs at the Leisure Centres.
Develop and manage staff rosters within agreed annual budgets.
Provide regular fitness program updates and promotion for communication channels.
Development of personal training and Group Fitness program Development and implementation of personal training and Group Fitness programming across the contract.
Support the growth and innovation of tailored health and fitness programs.
Fitness Instruction Provide professional fitness instruction to all members and guests.
Engage proactively with all customers entering the Health Club.
Create tailored, motivating and enjoyable fitness programs for members.
Actively support member retention initiatives and identify members at risk.
Promote participation in personal training, small-group training and group fitness programs.
Ensure developed programs support a wide range of activities, including group fitness and sport and utilises community assets other than the leisure centre, parks, gardens and other facilities and programs.
Maintain an expert level of knowledge of latest industry trends.
Educate staffing teams on fitness trends and information.
Support the delivery of health and fitness programs in accordance with annual plans.
Gymnasium supervision Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Health Clubs, working in alignment with the broader programming responsibilities.
Manage all staff working within the Health Club and ensure strong customer engagement.
Be visibly present and engaging with all customers.
Manage customer behaviour in line with etiquette guidelines.
Welcome and educate new participants so they feel comfortable in the Health Club environment.
Ensure safe use of equipment and carry out regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off by the Duty Captain.
Reporting and Administration Prepare weekly operational updates covering health club operations, group fitness programming, staffing and member engagement Contribute to end-of-month reporting, including participation data, occupancy, member insights, program performance.
Provide data insights and recommendations to support continuous program improvement across fitness services, group fitness programming and customer experience.
Ensure all administrative records, program data and operational documentation are accurate, compliant and maintained in a timely manner.
Health and Safety of all staff and customers Comply with all applicable organisational policies and procedures.
Oversee the evacuation the Health Club as directed by the Duty Captain and in accordance with training.
Act as Area Warden for the Health Club.
Implement and document hazard inspections, environmental checks, risk assessments and corrective actions.
Risk assess to identify any hazards and take action to rectify any identified risks.
Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders Aligned Leisure will be renowned for delivering outstanding service and providing memorable experiences for our customers.

All Aligned Leisure staff will understand and deliver on our customer charter The Fitness Captain will also undertake regular service shifts and must be available to work a mixture of early morning, daytime, evening and weekend hours.
The Fitness Captain may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Leisure Manager.
Essential Qualifications and Experience: Experience in fitness leadership Fitness Australia certified Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness or equivalent Current First Aid and CPR certificate Working with Children Check Personal Attributes: Focused on the customer Understands/enjoys the leisure industry and motivated to serve Aligned Leisure Disciplined to manage the varied components to this role Relentless in their approach to delivering exceptional service
