This is an 8‐month fixed‐term, full‐time position commencing as soon as possible with possible extension and/or permanency. The ideal start date is Week 7 Term 2, but is negotiable. We encourage all applicants available now and from Term 3 to apply.
About Karratha Senior High School
Our independent public school serves students from Years 7‐12 and has a student population of approximately 1,270. We offer a range of programs in music, drama, art, sport and outdoor education and maintain state‐of‐the‐art facilities. Our teaching team ranges from enthusiastic graduates to senior teachers, and we pride ourselves on producing responsible, engaged, compassionate young people.
Role
* Build positive relationships with students and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student achievement.
* Deliver a differentiated secondary Arts curriculum (including Visual Arts and other Arts disciplines) for Years 7‐12, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum.
* Employ explicit teaching strategies that support every student's learning, consistent with the Whole School Instructional Model.
* Communicate effectively, demonstrating strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to promote the school's values and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and deliver high‐quality arts lessons that reach all learners.
* Support students' academic and personal growth through assessment, feedback and mentoring.
* Contribute to school ceremonies and extracurricular arts events such as showcases, productions and competitions.
* Participate in professional learning and instructional coaching activities.
* Adhere to trauma‐informed practice and Positive Behaviour strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
* Have successfully applied for a WA Working with Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check before commencing work.
