We are looking for a talented Content Planner to join our team and be responsible for managing the coordination of external/third-party content suppliers (e.g. freelance editors, proofreaders, indexers, illustrators, photographers, freelance designers) to develop and deliver key content components for print and digital OUPANZ publications.
Key Responsibilities
Operations strategy
Contribute to the overall strategic direction of Operations with guidance from the Production Manager.
* Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and workshops.
* Contribute ideas to improve workflows and processes.
* Support team building activities to improve morale and motivation, provide support to other colleagues in times of peak.
Ensure content development coordination is managed to quality, budget and schedule requirements
* Demonstrate understanding of project requirements.
* Identify, engage, recruit and manage key external content suppliers (e.g. editors, proofreaders, indexers, illustrators, photographers, designers).
* Negotiate schedules and budgets with content suppliers that met with project expectations.
* Engage with editorial & design to ensure appropriate suppliers are agreed and sourced.
* Review supplier briefs and manage the briefing process to ensure quality expectations are achieved.
* Track artwork creation and review artworks for accuracy and quality.
* Manage content supplier database and onboard appropriately qualified, high‐performing suppliers to grow supplier pool.
* Develop good working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure quality assurance at all stages of projects and information was shared to meet timelines and budgets.
* Build strong content supplier relationships to increase supplier understanding.
* Manage end‐to‐end projects for fully outsourced projects.
Budgets & schedules
Contribute to project proposal development with a focus on scheduling, resourcing and costing.
* Support project teams to estimate costs for print and digital content creation.
* Manage capacity, deadlines, budgets and performance of content suppliers to meet agreed timelines, costs and quality.
Supplier coordination and relationship management
Understand requirements of projects, identify, engage, negotiate with and manage appropriate content suppliers.
* Develop a Supplier Relationship Management plan for all content suppliers.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate suppliers were sourced and quality assurance at all stages of the project.
* Identify, engage, negotiate and manage appropriate content suppliers that satisfy project requirements.
* Report on content supplier performance and improvement plans regularly, and effectively manage issues.
Relationship building and working as part of the OUPANZ team
Work effectively with key in‐house stakeholders during the production and development process.
* Develop and demonstrate good working relationships with international stakeholders across Operations, Publishing, and across the broader OUPANZ and global teams.
* Chair regular work‐in‐progress meetings.
* Communication with internal and external stakeholders ensured best understanding of requirements and desired outcomes were achieved.
* Execute system administration tasks to ensure file availability across the business.
* Revision to budgets and schedules are negotiated, agreed and communicated effectively and in a timely manner.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows and processes.
About You
* High proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Experience with supplier management
* Understanding of the editing and publishing process
* Strong project management skills and a penchant for scheduling and budgeting
* Excellent relationship skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise work and meet conflicting deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Post‐secondary qualification
* Knowledge of the Australian education market
* Experience in educational publishing industry or related field
* Highly flexible working environment
* Two work‐from‐home days per week and rostered Friday afternoons off (fortnightly)
