Systems Analysts translate business requirements into technical requirements that align with relevant architectures. A Technical Advisor is a subject matter expert who provides guidance and expertise to organisations, particularly in areas involving technical knowledge. They help make informed decisions by offering advice on solving problems, verifying information, and acting as a liaison between different teams or stakeholders.
Technical advisors offer insights and recommendations on technical issues, design, and implementation. They ensure the accuracy and validity of reports, data, and other technical materials. They bridge the gap between technical teams and other departments, ensuring clear communication and collaboration. They are involved in the planning, execution, and oversight of complex projects involving technical aspects.
Key duties and responsibilities
The Technical Advisor will deliver a range of technical services including;
• translation of complex business requirements into effective systems solutions in line with system architecture,
• participation and consultation on systems design and analysis sessions,
• authoring of complex user specification,
• analysis of production problems and test defects and preparation of resolution,
• provision of detailed advice to management and executive on system functions, issues and risks,
• mentoring and coaching more junior staff in the delivery of their work,
• contributing to systems costings for proposed work, and
• participation in peer reviews
Criteria
The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters.
1. 10 years' experience working in a complex ICT environment, preferably with Model 204.
2. Experience in providing guidance and support regarding ICT changes and issues at a high level
3. Experience in working in large government environments of similar size and complexity to Services Australia
1. Recent experience working in a complex ICT environment in Government or large organisation, preferably with Model 204. Demonstrated ability to perform high level analysis and interpretation of business requirements, draw accurate conclusions and develop system solutions.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the software development life cycle. Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery of projects.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to adapt to the audience. Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
4. Experience in working with Senior Executive Staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
