About the Role

Burton Waste Recovery is expanding and we're looking for a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our waste recovery team. If you enjoy keeping trucks, loaders, hook‑lifts and heavy plant running smoothly and you value a consistent, supportive environment this role might suit you perfectly.

You'll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of our fleet, including heavy vehicles and mobile plant used across our waste recovery operations. This is a hands‑on workshop role with plenty of variety and the opportunity to take ownership of your space.


Key Responsibilities

* Service, repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
* Conduct preventative maintenance checks and scheduled servicing
* Repair trucks, loaders, excavators, skid steers and other site plant
* Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with company standards
* Assist with workshop organisation and parts management


What We're Looking For

* Trade qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
* Heavy Rigid Truck Licence (preferred but not essential)
* Forklift licence (desirable not essential)
* Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
* Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics and heavy plant
* Ability to work independently and manage workload
* Strong commitment to safety and reliable work practice
* Positive attitude and team‑focused mindset
