A rare 12 month fixed term opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Manager / Group Accountant to join a well established, privately owned construction and development group. This maternity leave cover role offers broad commercial exposure, genuine influence, and the chance to partner closely with the Group CFO across a diverse portfolio of entities.

Your new company
Our client is a diversified construction, development and investment organisation. With a strong reputation for quality and long term partnerships, the group requires a capable Group Accountant / Finance Manager to support strategic and operational decision making during this 12 month period.
Your new role
As Group Accountant, you will take ownership of the full financial management, reporting and compliance function for the Group. Your responsibilities will include:
Statutory & Compliance
- BAS, PAYG and payroll tax (monthly and annual)
- Annual accounts preparation across multiple entities
- FBT returns and subcontractor TPAR
- ASIC compliance and statutory obligations
- Development and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard Group assets
Financial & Management Reporting
- Weekly financial reporting
- Annual income and expenditure budgets
- Monthly budget reporting and variance analysis
- Quarterly project profit determination
- Quarterly management financial statements across construction, projects, development and entities
- Monthly and long term overhead and project cashflow forecasting
- Board reporting for the group
Banking, Funding & Treasury
- Banking relationship management
- Funding and leasing arrangements
- Bank guarantee and insurance bond facility management and preparation
- Bank deposit management to maximise returns
- Payrun file preparation and authorisation
HR & Payroll Oversight
- Payroll processing for wages, salary and executive staff
- Employment contract preparation, onboarding and offboarding
- Pay reviews, bonus calculations and notifications
- Workers' compensation declarations, claims and rehabilitation management
- Cadet university fee management
- Monitoring and notification of length of service milestones
Operational & Project Support
- Monthly project cost reporting reviews
- Monitoring client progress claims to ensure timely payment
- Subcontractor and creditor payments
- Banking detail verification and subcontractor bank guarantee management
What you'll need to succeed
CA/CPA qualified with strong technical accounting capability
Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role
Exposure to construction, property development or project based environments highly regarded
Strong understanding of statutory reporting, tax compliance and multi entity structures
Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with operational leaders
A hands on, solutions focused approach with strong attention to detail
