What You'll Be Doing In This Role
We are recruiting Emergency Registrar Advanced Trainees with rotations in Ultrasound, ICU or Anaesthetics for 6‐month to two‐year contracts. That is a total of 12 months accredited Emergency training available (ACEM trainee). Our Anaesthetic, ICU and Ultrasound terms are accredited for 6 months part‐time by ACEM. Other training opportunities may be available including paediatrics at Sydney Children's Hospital, medical administration and medical terms.
This position at the Sydney Adventist Hospital provides an exciting opportunity to work in a busy private department with first‐class facilities and a great team of medical, nursing and allied health staff.
Trainees will have the opportunity to pick between the following options to make up the complete year:
* Six‐month rotations in combined Ultrasound and Urban District ED—3 months accredited ultrasound, 3 months accredited ED.
* Six‐month rotations in Anaesthetics/Urban District ED (accredited as Core Critical Care)—3 months accredited Anaesthetics, 3 months accredited ED.
* Three‐to‐six‐months ICU term.
* 0.5‐1.0 FTE in the emergency department if other terms are not sought.
The Emergency Department at the SAN Offers
* TS4 level accredited opportunities with a specific focus on leadership and management training and opportunities to contribute to the department with protocol development, M&M presentations, and teaching opportunities.
* 8‐10 hours per fortnight paid protected teaching time.
* Two days protected directly supervised ultrasound training per week for US trainees.
* Two days protected anaesthetic time per week, supervised 1:1 with consultant anaesthetists for anaesthetic trainees, with opportunities to get paediatric airway experience and advanced airway experience in the use of double‐lumen tubes.
* 3‐6 months ICU rotation during the year.
* Enthusiastic FACEMS provide 1:1 teaching.
* Tailored teaching program supervised by experienced DEMTs.
* Department subsidised parking for trainees.
* Department subsidised trainee yearly subscription to UpToDate, Rosh Review and The Emergency Medicine Manual (Online) by Robert Dunn.
* Seven paid days of study leave in one FTE year.

Essential Requirements
* Current ACEM trainees post primary examination (TS2, TS3 or TS4).
* Must hold current AHPRA registration.
* Must have Australian work rights; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to work independently within a supervised clinical environment using excellent clinical skills, judgement, and expertise.
* Demonstrated excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
* Great interpersonal skills with compassionate and professional communication with patients, their families, and colleagues.
* Demonstrated systematic approach to department management with ability to prioritise tasks, take initiative and problem‐solve to safely manage critically unwell patients.
* Adaptability to a team‐oriented and fast‐paced work environment.
* Willingness to undertake relevant ongoing professional development.
