Overview
Advocare Incorporated - supported by Armadale Volunteer Services – Armadale, WA. This volunteer role involves visiting and assisting older people to capture their life stories and significant moments, enabling them to record a legacy of their life. You will tell and document their story in a way they choose. Visiting and providing companionship to older people who are socially isolated or lonely helps them connect with their community, increases self-esteem, and reduces loneliness. This position is based through the City of Armadale and the surrounding area.
Responsibilities
* Visit and provide companionship to older people under the Community Visitors Scheme.
* Aid in capturing life stories and significant moments, and document them as the older person chooses.
* Assist to connect the older person with their community and reduce loneliness.
* Interact in local Armadale-area communities and match with an older person in your locality.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Regular commitment: more than 6 months.
* Type of work: Companionship & Social Support, Seniors & Aged Care.
* Time commitment: once a week for up to one hour.
* Training: Community Visitor Scheme Training and Dementia Training provided.
