About the Role and Team
Clyde & Co is undergoing growth in our Melbourne office and is looking for lawyers from Associate to Senior Associate level. The Melbourne practice covers commercial disputes and contentious insurance matters, including casualty, professional indemnity, directors' and officers' insurance coverage and defense work. Focus is high‐value, strategic claims, claims with significant stakeholder involvement, and claims from emerging risks, including AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Partners and team members on complex large‐scale matters, including defense of directors' and officers' liability and professional indemnity insurance claims, large construction project claims, product and public liability claims, and multi‐party litigation.
- Working with and delegating to junior lawyers; helping partners/special counsel manage the team and foster teamwork.
- Liaising directly with regional and global clients, building trusted adviser relationships, and supporting business development activities.
- Managing e‐discovery and electronic data collection for litigation.
- Communicating clearly and effectively, both in legal advice to clients and negotiations with opposing parties.
Candidate Profile
- Australian or dual qualified, with experience in an international or leading national firm.
- Prior experience defending claims in Australian courts and tribunals.
- Commitment to technical excellence, commercial awareness and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Interest in professional development, confidence in client relationship development, and desire to thrive in a high‐performing team.
