The City of Karratha is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Finance Business Partner / Accountant to join our Financial Services team. This is not your traditional accounting role — we’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of financial strategy, systems innovation, and business improvement.
What You'll Do
* As a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, you’ll:
* Deliver high-level financial analysis and insights that drive strategic planning.
* Build interactive dashboards and visual reporting tools to inform business decisions.
* Partner with directorates to optimise budget outcomes and guide long-term financial planning.
* Play a hands-on role in the development, testing, and implementation of ERP systems.
* Lead initiatives to enhance financial processes, reporting systems, and work practices.
* Train and support colleagues and Councillors in financial management and corporate systems.
What You Bring
* CPA or CA membership and tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business.
* At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or government environment.
* Strong knowledge of the Local Government Act and Australian Accounting Standards.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — you can translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, plus experience with BI tools and ERP systems.
* A strategic mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
