The Role
We are seeking a motivated Inventory Coordinator to support inventory management across Glencore’s Australian Metal operations. Reporting to the Inventory Superintendent, you will be responsible for day-to-day inventory control and leading a small team of Inventory Controllers.
You will play a critical role in ensuring materials are available when needed, risks are managed early, and optimisation opportunities are identified.
Your key responsibilities include:
Lead, coach, and support a small team of Inventory Controllers to deliver consistent, accurate inventory outcomesMonitor stock levels daily, identify emerging shortages or risks, and initiate required actions such as expediting, follow-ups, stock transfers, or raising replenishment requestsOversee inventory across multiple warehouses and storage locationsMonitor consumption patterns, lead times, and replenishment triggers (safety stock, ROP/Max, MRP Type)Drive stock accuracy through cycle counts, stock adjustments, investigations, and management of obsolete/blocked stockCoordinate stock transfers between sites, ensuring timely dispatch, tracking, and receiptingResolve inventory issues relating to expired, surplus, damaged, and part numberMaintain accuracy of SAP. Material Master data, including UoM, conversion factor, lead times, MRP parameters etcSupport vendor lead time updates, PO expediting, and non-supply situation escalationsAnalyse usage trends, slow mover lists, shortages, and demand anomalies, providing actionable insightsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the inventory functionEnsure compliance with Glencore’s Inventory Policy, standards, governance, and safety expectationsBuild strong cross-functional relationships across warehouse, procurement, planning, maintenance, and site teams
The successful applicants will have:
Experience in Supply Chain, Inventory, Warehousing, Logistics, or Procurement (mining or heavy industry advantageous)Strong SAP MM capability (Material Master, MRP, Stock Overview, Reservations, Movements)Good understanding of inventory principles including lead time, usage, safety stock, criticality, and replenishment methodsExperience leading or mentoring team membersStrong analytical capability with excellent attention to detailAbility to review data, diagnose issues, and take proactive corrective action (incl. expediting and follow-ups)Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsProactive mindset with willingness to learn, improve processes, and support capability upliftIntermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic analytics)
