Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our Birkenhead CMHT, which provides multidisciplinary assessment and intervention for older adults with complex mental health needs.
The role involves supporting psychologically informed care through case discussions, MDT meetings, supervision, training, and consultation. Clinical duties include providing direct psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions.
Join a friendly, supportive community mental health team that values the role of Clinical Psychology and promotes ongoing personal development and peer support. Opportunities include training in therapies like EMDR and other modalities, with links to Northwest courses and clinical placements.
The position is offered at Band 8a for candidates with 1+ years post-qualification experience. Newly-qualified clinicians are encouraged to apply, with options for a Band 7 preceptorship leading to Band 8a. Part-time hours are considered.

Applicant requirements
Must have UK professional registration and meet the criteria under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) 2020, with a DBS check required.
Person specification
Qualifications
Post-graduate doctoral training in clinical psychology or equivalent (pre-1996).
HPC Registered.
Desirable qualifications include additional psychotherapy and supervision qualifications.
Knowledge & Expertise
Skills in complex psychological assessments and interventions.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Consultation skills.
Desirable experience includes liaison with health professionals, teaching, policy development, working with adults with complex mental health issues, clients on the autistic spectrum, and group work.
Experience
Expertise in neuropsychological assessment.
