$38.99 per hour casual rate Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm Freight forwarding and cartage experience essential ASAP start Tullamarine location We are currently seeking an energetic and experienced Import and Cartage Officer to support the day to day operations of our client. This is a temp to permanent transition role and ideal for any candidate who has freight forwarding experience looking to move into administration support and customer service. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Freight Forwarding and cartage processes, be open to learning and have a high level accuracy with data entry, reporting and spreadsheet creation. The roles will be responsible but not limited to: Client communication: Acting as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing queries. Document preparation: Creating and managing necessary import documentation, such as customs paperwork. Costing and rating: Inputting and managing costing information into job orders. Coordination: Working with various internal teams (customs, transport) and external parties (overseas agents, clients) to ensure smooth operations. Tracking and tracing: Monitoring shipment progress and providing updates to stakeholders. Compliance: Ensuring all operations adhere to relevant regulations and procedures Document preparation: Creating and managing necessary import documentation, such as customs paperwork. Coordination: Working with various internal teams (customs, transport) and external parties (overseas agents, clients) to ensure smooth operations. Cartage LCL and or AIR experience Tracking and tracing: Monitoring shipment progress and providing updates to stakeholders. Compliance: Ensuring all operations adhere to relevant regulations and procedures. Required Skills Experience in import operations: Typically, a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a freight forwarding or logistics environment is required. Proficiency with logistics software: Familiarity with systems like Cargowise (CW1) is often expected. Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Essential for liaising with clients and colleagues. Organizational and problem-solving skills: Necessary for managing multiple tasks and resolving issues effectively. Knowledge of import procedures and regulations: Understanding of customs requirements, Incoterms, and other relevant regulations.
