About You
You have extensive experience in preparing statutory financial reports for Australian government agencies and are knowledgeable of the PGPA Act. You hold relevant qualifications in finance, commerce or business, along with a CPA or CA designation. You possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and provide guidance to senior stakeholders.
Your Typical Day
You review and supervise month end processes, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations. You prepare year end financial statements and assist with external audits. You coordinate external reporting requirements with government agencies and ensure compliance with regulations. You develop and implement policies and contribute to process improvement initiatives. You build relationships across government and external bodies to support financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
• Annual and monthly Financial Statements for Departmental and Administered;
• Monthly end process including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations;
• Accounting standards and reporting requirements implementation;
• Assets management including stocktake, revaluation and impairment;
• Management of special accounts;
• Chart of Accounts maintenance;
• BAS / FBT returns and tax advisory;
• Audit liaison with ANAO and internal audit;
• Compliance reporting;
• Accounting advice and training;
• Accountable Authority Instructions and finance policies;
• CBMS estimates updates; and
• External consultation and liaison as required.
