The energy transition requires a team of skilled legal professionals who can support businesses in their strategic and operational matters. A commercially minded Legal Counsel plays a key role in delivering high-quality legal advice to internal stakeholders across various projects and functions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal Corporate & Energy, you will be responsible for supporting ENGIE's commercial success by providing strategic legal advice on acquisitions, joint ventures, project financing, commercial contracts, dispute resolution, compliance, and governance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders across various projects and functions.
* Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements including land tenure, power purchase, procurement, confidentiality, and operational contracts.
* Advise on governance, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, and board-related matters.
* Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.
* Support contract lifecycle management and contribute to the development of legal policies, procedures, and systems that improve efficiency and reduce risk.
* Promote legal awareness and compliance across the business, including ethics, regulatory obligations, and internal approval workflows.
* Oversee the effective use of external legal counsel to ensure value and alignment with company standards.
About You
You should have strong commercial legal acumen, ideally gained in a top-tier firm or corporate environment. Exposure to energy markets, M&A, or renewable project development is highly valued. You should be able to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor of Laws and/or Juris Doctor.
* Admission to practice in Australia.
* Current unrestricted practising certificate.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
* A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset.
