**Our Journey**:
Early Parenting Centres are a free primary health service that provide specialist support for Victorian families with children from birth to four years of age. They deliver flexible, targeted services that aim to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies to achieve their parenting goals, in areas such as sleep and settling' child behaviour, parent and child health and wellbeing. Early Parenting Centres intervene with parents and caregivers who are struggling with their parenting role to build stronger capabilities and link families back to services in their local community that can support their holistic needs.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Grade 3 Social Worker to take up a part time permanent ongoing role (0.6EFT). This position is based at Clyde and is part of the broader Monash Children's Allied Health team. Social Workers within this team provide specialised services to infant, paediatric and adolescent patients and their families. Social work services are provided in inpatient settings; in ambulatory care services and via state-wide services such as the Paediatric Palliative Care Program.
**A Day in the Life**:
As the Grade 3 Social Worker, you will be recognised for your clinical expertise, professional knowledge, ability to provide consultation and clinical leadership to health professionals within the team including liaison with senior team members.
You will have a key role in supporting the service at all times. The key service areas include intake, assessment and planning; crisis intervention and solution focused interventions; referral to and liaison with community services in a fast paced environment. The nature of this work requires a flexible approach and the ability to adapt to a broad range of working environments.
The Social Work Service within the Early Parenting Centre has a key role in assessment and management of:
- Vulnerable children and families including those experiencing family violence, children at risk and children with a disability
- discharge planning
- referral to, and liaison with community services for post discharge services
- crisis intervention
- counselling
**What you will bring**:
- You will have an extensive knowledge of resources and understanding of the assessment and intervention frameworks used to guide practice including the Children's Youth and Families Act and appropriate referral networks
- You will be able to demonstrate advanced skills in psycho-social assessments, problem solving, communication and discharge planning.
- You will be skilled at supporting families adjusting change
- You will develop and maintain strong links with universities and your Monash Health social work colleagues and supervise students and other staff as required
- You will be a dynamic, innovative and flexible practitioner and will provide and receive regular supervision. You will have demonstrated leadership skills and be a team player
You will be required to participate in Social Work on-call after hour's service across the Monash Hospital sites and may be expected to work across sites within Monash Health as required.
**What you will need**:
- Extensive clinical social work experience as well as proven leadership skills including the provision of supervision to staff.
- Experience in quality projects and/or research
- A relevant social work qualification
- Eligible for AASW membership
- Experience preferably in a community or hospital care setting and/or with children and families and/or with Child Protection
