Job opportunity: Disability Support Worker
We are seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to support a young adult male participant in Caboolture, QLD, who is living with a spinal cord injury and Level 3 Autism (ASD).
Key responsibilities:
* Assisting with personal care, including personal hygiene, dressing, bathing & grooming.
* Catheter management: preparing sterile syringes, routine catheter flushes, and drainage bag changes.
* Supporting bowel therapy, administering enemas, completing de-gas procedures, and performing digital stimulation.
* Hoisting for all transfers using a full sling hoist (two-person assist).
* Completing and documenting skin integrity checks as part of pressure injury prevention.
* Administering medication according to the care plan and medication safety protocols.
* Preparing meals and providing feeding assistance, considering fatigue and posture.
* Assisting with domestic tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and general tidying.
* Supporting home exercise programs and postural management.
* Accompanying participants on community access and rehabilitation exercises.
* Helping establish structure, encouraging independence, and promoting safe engagement in daily activities.
Requirements:
* Australian Driver Licence.
* Current National Police Clearance.
* Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
* Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
* A minimum of six months of experience as a support worker, or relevant experience in a similar role.
* Excellent communication skills and a passion for making a positive impact.
