Job Summary

The Senior Executive – Payroll is responsible for managing and processing end-to-end payroll operations accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, maintaining payroll records, and handling employee payroll-related queries. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll laws, and coordination with HR, Finance, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Process monthly payroll accurately and within defined timelines
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, gratuity, and other applicable labor laws
Verify and validate attendance, leave, overtime, incentives, deductions, and reimbursements
Prepare payroll reports, salary registers, and MIS for management review
Handle full & final settlements, gratuity, bonus, and arrears calculations
Coordinate with HR for new joiners, exits, promotions, increments, and salary revisions
Address employee queries related to salary, deductions, tax, and payslips
Manage payroll audits and provide required data to internal/external auditors
Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and challans
Maintain accurate payroll records, employee master data, and documentation
Coordinate with banks for salary disbursement
Support payroll system upgrades, automation, and process improvements

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliance
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, ADP, Paychex, or similar)
Good working knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources
Certification or diploma in Payroll Management is an added advantage

Experience

3–5 years of experience in payroll processing
Prior experience handling payroll for medium to large organizations preferred

Preferred Attributes

Experience in multi-location or multi-state payroll
Exposure to audits and statutory inspections
Knowledge of current labor laws and taxation updates
