The Role
This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to shape the people, systems and structure of a new world‑class packing facility. Reporting to the General Manager, Australian Operations, the Head of Production will lead daily operations while playing a pivotal role in strategic planning, cost optimisation, and commercial performance. You’ll guide a committed and experienced team through change and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end production operations, driving throughput, quality and efficiency
- Set and monitor KPIs to improve performance, cost and yield outcomes
- Oversee people, machinery, technology and compliance across the packing process
- Partner with internal and third‑party growers to ensure smooth fruit intake and scheduling
- Build a high‑performance culture through structured leadership and mentoring
- Analyse data and drive continuous improvement in labour cost, quality and waste
- Contribute to strategic decisions and reporting at Executive level
About You
You are a commercially savvy operational leader with strong people skills and a proven record in high‑volume FMCG, horticulture or citrus environments. You thrive in fast‑paced settings and are confident leading change, implementing systems, and making data‑backed decisions.
Your Experience & Attributes
- Extensive leadership experience in fresh produce, packing or manufacturing
- Commercial acumen – able to interpret and act on operational and financial data
- Strong understanding of production KPIs, cost drivers and operational efficiency
- Demonstrated success in team development and structured people management
- Citrus, fast‑moving fruit or fresh produce experience desirable
- Practical mindset with hands‑on presence and leadership on the floor
- High attention to quality, compliance, and safety
