About the Role
We're seeking Mechanical Maintainers to safely maintain and improve our track machines assets, including Tampers, Regulators, and Mobile Flash Butts. These machines are integral to our track maintenance division at Rio Tinto.
You'll play a key role in identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance through our asset management system. You'll also support defect elimination processes and contribute to work management analysis and asset tactics reviews to enhance overall asset performance.

The roles are based in our workshop in Dampier, offering a lifestyle and roster to suit you. The positions are available both FIFO and residential, with an 8-day on, 6-day off all-day shift roster.
Your Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* A strong commitment to safety and wellbeing.
* A current manual 'C' Class Driver's License.
* A Heavy Duty Diesel Trade certificate – Mechanical or Fitting.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
* A strong background in mobile mining or rail equipment repairs and maintenance.
* The ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
* A sound understanding of hydraulic principles.
Prior experience with HR Drivers Licence, RTIO inductions, previous rail experience on Plasser - Tampers Regulators, Vaia Car - Welders, and knowledge of computer programs including SAP are highly desirable.

Where You Will Be Working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 16 mines across the Pilbara via 1,800km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Dampier (7 Mile), West Angelas, Cape Lambert, and Gudai-Darri, each train is operated by our state-of-the-art AutoHaul system and comprises three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length, with over 40 trains operating per day.
We're applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network and value input from our employees to improve our assets and operations.

Our Dampier workshop is situated near the Dampier Archipelago – 42 islands, all within a 45-kilometre radius of Dampier and Karratha – which has exceptional natural beauty, high conservation values, and outstanding heritage values. Added to the close proximity of our inland national parks, such as Karijini, there's something for everyone to enjoy and explore.
Karratha provides multiple shopping precincts and schooling options for family-based team members. The city also offers many sporting options for all ages, including Netball, Soccer, AFL, BMX, Go Karting, Motocross, Swimming, Surf lifesaving, Bowls, and Sport shooters association.
