Business Development Lead – Australia

Location: Australia (Remote within Australia)

Engagement Type: Freelance / Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven and well-connected Business Development Lead to support OctaSence's growth across Australia, with a strong preference for candidates who understand the Western Australia / Perth mining and infrastructure ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who has experience in B2B sales, partnerships, strategic outreach, or business development within mining, infrastructure, EPC, industrial technology, or related sectors. You will work directly with the founding team to identify opportunities, engage prospective clients, position our solutions, and support commercial closures.

Key Responsibilities Market Development & Lead Generation
* Identify and develop new business opportunities across Mining, Infrastructure, Rail, and Industrial sectors
* Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads, prospects, and strategic accounts
* Map target organizations, stakeholders, and buying centers within relevant industries
* Conduct outreach through industry networks, referrals, direct prospecting, and partnerships
Client Engagement & Relationship Building
* Build trusted relationships with decision-makers, technical stakeholders, consultants, and operational teams
* Initiate and manage conversations with potential clients, partners, and ecosystem collaborators
* Understand customer pain points and align them with OctaSence's value proposition
Solution Positioning & Commercial Support
* Present and position OctaSence's AI-powered solutions in a compelling and industry-relevant manner
* Work closely with the founders to support proposals, pilot opportunities, and strategic discussions
* Contribute to partnership development, pilot planning, and commercial negotiations
* Support deal progression from early-stage conversations to closure
Strategic Market Intelligence
* Provide insights on market trends, buyer behavior, competitor activity, and industry opportunities in Australia
* Help shape go-to-market priorities based on field conversations and commercial feedback
* Identify potential pilot opportunities, channel partners, and entry pathways into key accounts
What We're Looking For Required
* Experience in Business Development, Sales, Partnerships, or Commercial Growth
* Exposure to Mining, Infrastructure, EPC, Industrial Technology, Rail, or Asset-Heavy Industries
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of business development efforts
* Comfortable engaging with both technical and commercial stakeholders
* Based in Australia
Preferred
* Existing professional network in Western Australia / Perth
* Experience selling into B2B industrial or enterprise environments
* Familiarity with operational challenges in mining, infrastructure, structural monitoring, or industrial risk management
* Prior exposure to technology, SaaS, AI, IoT, sensors, or engineering-led solutions

Compensation

This is a performance-based, commission-driven engagement. Specific commercial terms will be discussed with shortlisted candidates based on experience, network strength, and expected involvement.
