About the Role This opportunity is ideal for an early-career or developing service designer looking to build hands-on experience in a large-scale transformation environment. You will support the delivery of customer-focused service improvements by contributing to research, analysis and design activities that enhance overall service experience and operational effectiveness. Working within a broader transformation and improvement function, you will assist in translating customer insights into practical solutions, helping shape how services are designed, delivered and continuously improved. The role provides strong exposure to human-centred design, systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration in a complex public sector setting. Assist in analysing qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, pain points and opportunities for service improvement. Contribute to the development of service design artefacts such as journey maps, service blueprints, personas and prototypes. Help coordinate engagement activities with internal teams and stakeholders to support collaborative design and solution development. Prepare reports, presentations and visual materials to communicate insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders. Participate in experience reviews and post-implementation evaluations to assess effectiveness and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Support the application of human-centred design principles to ensure services are intuitive, accessible and aligned to user needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project, operational and transformation teams to align service outcomes with business goals. Assist in tracking service performance metrics and contribute to insights that inform ongoing optimisation efforts. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and supporting process enhancement activities. About You Exposure to service design, UX, customer experience, business improvement or a related discipline. Foundational understanding of human-centred design (HCD), design thinking or service design methodologies. Ability to support the development of service design outputs such as journey maps, blueprints or prototypes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical recommendations. Effective communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly in both written and verbal formats. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and contribute to shared outcomes. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Tertiary qualifications in design, business, psychology, human factors, innovation or a related field, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with tools such as Miro, Figma, Adobe XD or similar design/collaboration platforms is desirable. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
