Who We're Looking For
Reporting to the National Procurement manager, the Procurement Manager - SA will carry out efficient & cost-effective sourcing, procurement, delivery, reporting and ongoing improvement in regard to supplier management, materials, plant, assets and supporting services to BMD and its associated businesses/sites/jobs as required. You will be a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and proven technical expertise to:
* Manage the approval of RFA's and purchase orders for materials, services, and equipment
* Manage the process of wet & dry hire related activities, including sourcing and pricing
* Provide procurement assistance & direction to estimating, tender & project teams
* Collaborate with business personnel and projects to ensure supplier expectations are being met
* Develop and maintain close working relationships with suppliers to source and negotiate the most cost-effective rates and service and to resolve any issues
* Ensure suppliers and subcontractors meet and exceed our expectations in regard to safety, environment, quality, price and delivery requirements
* Understand and provide direction in regard to BMDs procurement policies, procedures, DOAs and internal control standards
* Direct management of logistics coordinators and local procurement/fleet workshops/sites/yards/stores
* Control & management of assets & small tools
The Successful Candidate Will Be a Self-starter With
* Experience working as a Purchasing Manager within the construction industry or as an experienced Construction professional in the field of supervision or management
* Strong interpersonal skills with an accomplished ability to negotiate
* Proficient at multitasking and organisational management
* Excellent written and oral communications skills
* Ability to work autonomously and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
* Analytical & reporting skills incorporating a high standard of numeracy & computer literacy
