As our Research Scientist, you will play a vital role in advancing Queensland's agricultural industry by leading cutting-edge research in applied entomology. Your work will directly contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring the long-term productivity and profitability of Queensland's tropical fruit and market access sectors. Based in Cairns, you will join a passionate team dedicated to preserving and enhancing Queensland's agricultural landscape.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead components of research projects, including directing the work of technical staff to achieve project goals.
* Design and execute applied entomology research projects, delivering impactful results and driving outcomes that benefit Queensland's agricultural industry.
* Develop experimental methods, prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensure adherence to scientific methods and protocols.
* Manage the collection, collation, and interpretation of research data with a high degree of scientific integrity and accuracy.
* Collaborate with team members, participate in team meetings, and provide support to colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
* Prepare detailed reports for funding bodies and effectively communicate research findings to colleagues, scientific peers, and stakeholders.
* Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Market Access team.
* Uphold the Department's Code of Conduct, and demonstrate ethical behaviour, equity, and commitment to workplace health and safety.
