General Manager - Research Governance and FundingOutstanding leadership opportunity in research governanceDrive innovation and quality in the frameworks, and standards of researchWork collaboratively in supporting research excellence in health outcomesThe PositionThe QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute seeks a collegiate and inspiring executive to take a leading role in supporting the Institute in the achievement of its vision, mission, goals and objectives through ensuring the operational robustness, strategic development and delivery of high-integrity research governance services.Reporting to the Deputy Director and Chief Scientist and with four direct reports, the General Manager, Research Governance & Funding (GMRGF) will provide contemporary and visionary leadership to the Research Governance and Funding Office at QIMR, which comprises the teams and key functions of Research Grants, Research Ethics and Clinical Trials, and Research Integrity. Leading the delivery of best-practice research governance and strategic development of research funding opportunities, the GMRGF will work closely with researchers and research leaders across the Institute to foster a commitment to research ethics and compliance in line with relevant legislation, policy and practices governing research conduct. The GMRGF will also lead the provision of advice to the Institute community on strategic approaches to securing funding.Possessing exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills and the ability to bring multiple teams on a journey of continual change and adherence to best-practice standards, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a significant track record in leading and managing research governance and funding in a large and complex organisation.
