Network Design Engineer – Juniper | Palo Alto | Cisco | Fortinet Melbourne | Permanent | Flexible Working
We are partnering with a leading technology services organisation to find a highly skilled Network Design Engineer with deep expertise across Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco and Fortinet. This role sits within a mature Managed Services and Professional Services environment, supporting enterprise customers and delivering high-quality network and security design outcomes. The Role
You'll take ownership of designing secure, resilient, high-performance network solutions across a broad customer base. Working closely with senior stakeholders and internal engineering teams, you'll translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, provide guidance during major incidents, and support continuous improvement across customer environments. This is a hands‑on design role that requires confidence, technical depth, and the ability to communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead network and security design activities across enterprise environments.
* Produce high‑quality architecture, HLD/LLD documentation and technical recommendations.
* Provide subject‑matter expertise across Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
* Guide engineering teams during major incidents (MIM) and escalated technical challenges.
* Work closely with customers to strengthen partnerships and ensure exceptional service delivery.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation discussions and operational optimisation.
* Participate in governance, design reviews, and technical workshops.
Essential Experience
To be considered, you must have Level 4 engineering capability and hands‑on expertise in at least three of the following (ideally all four):
1. Juniper
2. Palo Alto
3. Cisco
4. Fortinet
* Proven experience designing secure enterprise network architectures.
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical capability with confidence to solve complex issues.
* Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
* Experience working within managed services or large enterprise environments.
Highly Desirable
* Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
* ITIL certification.
* Pre‑sales exposure or ability to support solution scoping.
* Delivering Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and preventative maintenance programs.
