ABOUT HITEK STEEL FRAMING
Hitek Steel Framing is a leading manufacturer of prefabricated light gauge steel (LGS) frames and trusses, supplying residential and commercial builders across NSW and Queensland. Based in Port Kembla, our state-of-the-art facility combines precision roll-forming technology with expert design to deliver complete structural framing solutions — from detached homes to multi-unit developments.
At Hitek, we pride ourselves on our people-first culture. We work together as a team to deliver results and help build families' dreams.
Our design team is growing, and we are looking for a motivated Design Coordinator to join our collaborative team and contribute to projects across both states.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will work alongside a team of experienced Design Coordinators, sharing responsibility for managing the full design lifecycle — from initial client concept through to final approval and manufacturing release. This is a collaborative, supportive environment where coordinators work together, share knowledge, and back each other up.
You will liaise with clients, architects, and engineers, coordinate with our production team, and play a key role in ensuring every project is delivered accurately, on time, and to specification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate and manage the design process from initial concept to final approval, ensuring all designs are accurate and meet project specifications
• Liaise with clients, architects, and engineers to gather project requirements and provide design solutions
• Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings and specifications
• Review and approve design documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure designs are feasible and optimised for manufacturing
• Manage project timelines and ensure that all design milestones are met on schedule
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
• Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and provide on-site design support
• Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in steel frame and truss design
ABOUT YOU
To become part of the Hitek Team, you will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in design coordination or management within the residential construction industry
• Experience in CAD-based design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools — or equivalent experience with frame and truss design platforms (MiTek, Pryda, Framecad, Vertex or similar)
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building codes, including the NCC and relevant NSW and QLD standards
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently manage tasks
• Australian work authorisation is required for this position
Timber frame and truss design managers and senior coordinators are warmly encouraged to apply. Your structural knowledge, builder relationships, and coordination experience are highly valued — full steel framing and software induction will be provided.

• A fun and energetic workplace where everyone is part of the Hitek team
