Transport Champion Volunteers – VIC
We urgently need reliable volunteers to assist community members with their medical appointments through the Australian Red Cross Patient Transport program. As a Transport Champion you will operate our Red Cross vehicles, ensure safe journeys for clients and support the team with essential training and documentation.
Availability: Business hours
Time involved: 1 day per week / fortnight
Key responsibilities include:
- Operate Red Cross vehicles to transport one or multiple clients per trip.
- Use mobile applications to support safe and timely service delivery.
- Provide a safe, courteous and respectful transport experience.
- Operate within established work practices and maintain confidentiality.
- Record timely documentation of interactions with clients.
- Participate in mandatory learning and development to keep up-to-date in aged and community care.
Requirements:
- Valid Australian driver’s licence with an excellent driving record.
- Ability to adhere to a regular rostered shift and commit to mandatory training (≈1 hour per month).
- Willingness to work within a nationwide team delivering social inclusion programs.
- Capacity to place light mobility aids (≈10‑12 kg) in the vehicle boot.
- Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
- Full commitment to the Aged Care Code of Conduct and organisational policies.
- All volunteers will be required to undertake a National Police Check.
- Statutory declaration if you are a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than Australia after the age of 16.
