The School
Hillbrook is a co‐educational school of approximately 930 students from Years 7-12, established in 1987. The School is growing over the next two years with up to 1,008 students by 2028.
Our innovative and refreshing approach to education aligns with the Australian Curriculum and reflects Hillbrook's philosophy, 'In Balance we Grow'. We focus on quality teaching and learning and specialise in nurturing adolescents. Students are encouraged to engage in a range of pursuits to achieve a balance between the academic, creative, physical, and spiritual aspects of their lives.

The School Leadership Team (SLT) comprises the Principal, Deputy Principal, Dean of Student Wellbeing, Dean of Teaching & Learning, and Business Manager.
The Position
Hillbrook is seeking a School Counsellor to join our team on a part‐time contract position from Term 2 to Term 4, 2026. The role is approximately 0.8 FTE with flexibility in hours by mutual agreement.
The School Counsellor will ensure students in need are appropriately supported to achieve psychological health, academic success and social and emotional wellbeing. This includes incorporating current therapy options and evidence based psychological treatments to provide consistent and effective support. Consulting and collaborating with parents and families, together with teachers and staff, to ensure appropriate support structures are in place for students.
To be successful in this position, you will bring relevant experience, knowledge, and competencies, including:
* Demonstrated recent knowledge of and experience in providing counselling to adolescents in an educational setting highly regarded
* Ability to prioritise positive relationship development through unconditional care, appropriate communication and support of student growth and development
* Awareness of adolescent health and wellbeing issues and appropriate care and support
* Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills necessary to work with all members of the school community
* Demonstrated commitment to nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders
* Commitment to support the safety and wellbeing of children and the protection of children from harm in accordance with Hillbrook and Anglican Schools Commission policies
