About the Role
We are seeking a Disability Support Worker - Grounds Crew to support Supported Employees participating in Devonfield's grounds, landscaping, and green maintenance operations.
This is not just a labouring role. It is a support focused position that combines outdoor work with coaching, supervision, and skill development. You will help individuals build work skills, routines, and confidence while contributing to the upkeep and presentation of outdoor environments.
You'll work alongside Supported Employees to ensure tasks are:
* Safe
* Inclusive
* Person-centred
* Aligned with individual NDIS goals and employment plans
Key Responsibilities
Participant Support & Inclusion
* Provide person centred support to Supported Employees in grounds and green maintenance work
* Build vocational skills, confidence, independence, and work readiness
* Promote dignity, choice, control, and meaningful participation
* Monitor wellbeing and respond to support needs during work activities
Grounds & Green Maintenance Support
* Support tasks such as lawn mowing, gardening, planting, pruning, weeding, and general grounds maintenance
* Demonstrate tasks and provide hands-on coaching and encouragement
* Adjust tools, tasks, and work methods to suit individual abilities
* Support safe use and care of tools, equipment, and PPE
Safety & Risk Management
* Work in accordance with WHS legislation, policies, and Safe Work Method Statements
* Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses
* Ensure safe practices for participants, colleagues, and the public
Documentation & Communication
* Complete daily notes, progress updates, and incident reports as required
* Communicate effectively with Team Leaders and colleagues
* Maintain confidentiality at all times
About You
You're someone who enjoys working outdoors and gets genuine satisfaction from helping others succeed.
You will bring:
* A Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, (or willingness to obtain)
* Experience supporting people living with disability (desirable)
* Interest or experience in gardening, landscaping, or outdoor work
* A coaching mindset and strong safety awareness
* Good communication skills and basic technology confidence
* Reliability, adaptability, and a positive, inclusive attitude
Requirements
* Current unrestricted Tasmanian Driver's Licence
* Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration with NDIS endorsement
* National Police Check
* First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
* Willingness to complete Devonfield induction and mandatory NDIS training
